A live online masterclass with Deborah Lessen, featuring the DLP Standing Footbar, Pilates foot work, and apparatus repertoire.

Dynamic Alignment of the Lower Limbs
Sat 30th May 2026, 6.30-8pm UTC (Sunday 8.30-10am AEDT)
This live online masterclass focus is on practical exercises and understanding of the vital role the feet and legs play in whole body alignment and function. Drawn from a larger workshop by Deborah Lessen, this 1.5 hour session will explore lineage exercises, integrating the Standing Footbar and Pilates apparatus, to work the feet and legs for integrity of the entire kinetic chain.
Carola Trier insisted that footwork be developed as a fundamental element of Pilates practice and the foundation to how the whole body functions. The lower limb supports the pelvis which, in turn, supports the spine and upper stories of the body. Correcting poor muscle use in the lower limb can minimize, if not correct, a variety of alignment issues including postural valgus and genu. The result of working to correct foot and low limb muscle activation and load support, is improvement in the alignment and function of the pelvis and upper body.
Based on the work taught to Deborah Lessen by Carola Trier, we will work through exercises and sequences for the feet and legs, working up through the body to improve verticality and alignment.

The Standing Footbar is a unique small apparatus that cultivates articulation, strength, and dynamic alignment through the feet and lower limbs, enhancing vertical support and integration throughout the body. The work translates directly into improved performance across all Pilates exercises and is equally effective for private, small group, and class settings.
